After eleven years, the infringement procedure against Italy for the failure to submit to the Environmental Impact Assessment (Via) of the remediation at the industrial site of Cengio, in Liguria, has been closed. This was announced by the Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa, noting that "the European Commission has recognized positively the commitment of our Ministry". In the past two years, Costa continues in a statement, "at the Ministry of the Environment we have managed to close five other infringement proceedings pending on our heads and our pockets.
