"During the pandemic - Google explained in an official post - we saw an increase in the demand for local content to allow people to stay up to date. But the Covid-19 has also increased the economic challenges that many local editorial offices face. At the moment it is more important than ever to support local news. "

"Together with the publishers who will participate - he adds - we want to measure how this program can help improve their activities over time. We have made it based on the experience gained over the years thanks to the support provided to the world of information with the Google News Initiative ".

"Based on the suggestions received during meetings with the publishers - observes Google - we have designed seminars on the foundations of corporate strategy, on public involvement and on monetization strategies".

In Europe, the Californian company collaborated with WAN-IFRA's "FT Strategies and Table Stakes Europe to provide in-depth workshops, including intensive training and mentoring activities over several weeks and months. As part of these workshops, our partners will offer training from industry experts on a wide range of topics, including business change management, subscription models and activities to grow your audience. Training will be free, while places are limited and available on request. "
