On August 4, a strong explosion occurred in the port of Beirut, in Lebanon, which impressed due to its magnitude and the devastating consequences suffered by the city and the local people. As reported by the country's Ministry of Health, the accident so far left at least 100 dead and more than 4,000 injured. The explosion apparently was generated by the neglect of a shipment of ammonium nitrate of approximately 2,750 tons that, when exploding, generated a shock wave that affected much of the place.
