According to the authorities, three people died in forest fires in California.

They were killed in the "Zogg Fire" southwest of the city of Redding, the newspaper "Los Angeles Times" quoted the responsible sheriff Eric Magrini.

Tens of thousands of people had to flee their homes, according to the report.

The fires meanwhile also cause severe damage to the Napa Valley wine-growing region.

The "Glass Fire" destroyed the Château Boswell winery and parts of the Castello di Amorosa winery.

According to the fire department, around 4,500 hectares of land in the Napa Valley had been destroyed by the "Glass Fire" by Monday.

The fire is spreading at a "dangerous" pace and is nowhere under control.

More than a thousand firefighters were deployed in the Napa Valley.

In the area of the "Zogg Fire" and "Glass Fire", a total of more than 35,000 residents were ordered by the authorities to leave their apartments and houses and to go to safety.

Dozens of fires have raged on the US west coast since mid-August.

In California alone, around 19,000 emergency services are fighting the massive fires.

According to the authorities, at least 26 people were killed and more than 7,776 buildings have been destroyed so far.

The most severe fires in California's recent history affected more than 15,190 square kilometers of land.

Scientists believe that the climate crisis is partly responsible for the forest and bush fires in the western United States, which have been increasing for years.

According to them, the drought in the vegetation is increasing significantly as a result of global warming, which in turn favors the rapid spread of the flames.
