The hires activated by private employers in the first seven months of 2020 were 2,919,000. Compared to the same period of 2019, the contraction was "very strong (-38%) due to the emergency linked to the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequent restrictions (obligation to close non-essential activities) as well as the more general fall in production and of consumption ". This is what appears from the data of the Inps precariousness observatory.
This contraction, which was particularly negative in April (-83%), the institute specified, gradually diminished until July (-20%). The decline concerned all types of contracts, but was particularly accentuated for hires with fixed-term employment contracts (intermittent, temporary, temporary).
