The British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca is not having an easy time of it at the moment: The EU is pushing the group for further deliveries of the corona vaccine, and reports recently circulated that the agent may not work as well in older people.
The company firmly rejected the latter.
Now there has been a bomb alarm at the plant of a supplier in Wales who makes the vaccine for AstraZeneca.
As the Wockhardt company from Wrexham announced, a "suspicious package" was discovered that morning.
All competent authorities have been notified, it said.
The production facility, where important steps in the production of AstraZeneca's coronavirus vaccine take place, has been partially vacated on the advice of experts.
According to the BBC, production has been temporarily stopped.
The police in Wales spoke of an "ongoing incident".
Several streets have been blocked.
The public was urged to avoid the area.
Even in the late afternoon, the police did not give the all-clear on social media.
According to the Reuters news agency, emergency services had already been called to the area last week.
Floods in the region had threatened the production facility, but apparently no damage occurred.
