A hotel located

four blocks from the Civic Center

caught fire

this Thursday afternoon in Bariloche, Río Negro.

The fire spread along the side of a hill and after more than two hours of work they managed to control it.

There were no injuries or affected homes.

A thick column of smoke became visible from the most distant points of the city.

The smoke and sirens worried a population that this Wednesday already had a scare with an earthquake that was also felt in San Martín de los Andes.

The fire had two outbreaks and was controlled with the participation of 17 brigade members.

There were also neighbors who were dedicated to cooling the area with buckets.

The flames spread between the dry vegetation and the properties of the sector and in a moment they bit the sidewalk of Salta Street.

The authorities asked the residents not to pass through the sector, one of the busiest by

locals and tourists.

Bustillo Avenue connects with the "kilometers" of Bariloche where some of the main neighborhoods of the city are distributed, as well as numerous hotels and cabin complexes.

Although it was not a large fire, the entire region is sensitized by the forest fire that develops near El Bolsón and that so far has consumed about 7,500 hectares.

This forest disaster occupies about 300 brigades, helicopters, hydrant planes, among others.

Approximately ago, the operation managed to contain the advance of the flames towards the rural neighborhoods.

The fire started around 3:30 p.m. in the back area of a hotel, on Salta Street, a few meters from Bustillo Avenue and half a block from the

San Carlos Sanatorium.

The flames quickly spread down a slope of Runge hill, entering a forest area.

"There are no injured people or homes involved.

It is purely forestry

. Neither was it necessary to provoke the evacuation of the neighbors, who evacuated themselves out of fear of the situation," said Patricia Díaz, undersecretary of Civil Defense of Bariloche.

After 5:00 p.m., the Firefighters managed to control the fire.

They reported that the fire was started by human error, by a welding spark that fell on dry vegetation.

Civil Protection, Provincial Police and Volunteer Firefighters worked, who used a helicopter that refilled water in Lake Nahuel Huapi and threw it over the affected area.

They continued with cooling tasks.

"We are on orange alert, always prepared to respond quickly to the fire. The season is complicated because there is a lot of drought, so the bushes and fine material catch fire quickly," said Díaz, in dialogue with TN, about the situation in the Patagonia, which in recent weeks was affected by the fire in El Bolsón.

In February 2015 a fire had been registered in the same place.

On that occasion the fire affected a home.
