The fact that the train was late was probably life-saving in North Rhine-Westphalia on Friday: a toddler fell into the track bed at Gelsenkirchen Central Station with his buggy - and was brought to safety just a few minutes before a regional express arrived.
Actually, the train should have come earlier.
Police officers and travelers released the child from the dangerous situation, as the Dortmund police announced.
According to the information, the buggy had made itself on the slightly sloping platform and had tipped into the track.
Apparently the child's grandfather forgot to put the parking brake on.
Federal police officers and travelers noticed the accident and immediately rescued the slightly injured child from the platform.
Shortly afterwards the slightly delayed train arrived there.
An ambulance took the shocked grandfather and grandchild to a hospital.
