Formula 1 tries to change direction in the name of the continuous pursuit of entertainment and the much desired overtaking.

The revolution by Ross Brawn and Stefano Domenicali starts this weekend at Silverstone on the occasion of the British Grand Prix and will continue only for another three GPs (in Monza and Brazil, provided that the GP in Sao Paulo is run despite the Covid emergency , otherwise another venue will be found) waiting to understand if the road taken by the Circus is the right one.

After a week of rest and after the two consecutive races in Austria, Formula 1 arrives in Great Britain where there is great anticipation to witness a new challenge between the home idol Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen but also because it will be disputed for the first time (Saturday) a Sprint Qualifying, a 100 km race which will assign the positions on the starting grid. Already on Friday there will be the first qualifying to define the grid for the next day's mini-race. The Sprint race (in fact it is a qualification but also a race) takes place over 100 kilometers (about 25 ', 17 laps at Silverstone) without stopping and assigns points to the first three finishers: 3 to the first, 2 to the second, 1 to the third. There is no extra point for the fast lap. These points are added to those of Sunday.

The order of arrival of the Sprint therefore determines the starting grid of the GP which will start at Silverstone at 16 Italian. There will be only one hour of free practice to adjust the car in view of the GP, as from Friday evening the cars will go to the parc fermé. And even if there will be a second session on Saturday morning, the changes will be limited to those already in force on Sunday morning, which is very few. "No strategies, no pit stops, free choice of tires - explains the Formula One Group sports manager Ross Brawn - and freedom of fuel consumption. We want the drivers to go full throttle in that half hour (in Great Britain there will be 17 laps). ".

Meanwhile, again at Silverstone it is already 2022 time for Formula 1: Liberty Media has announced that on Thursday the full-size car that will face the next World Championship will be unveiled. The presentation will take place via social media on the official F1 channels. The event, named "Formula One Begins", is scheduled the day after tomorrow at 3.30 pm Italian and will consist in the presentation of the concept studied for the World Championship which will start next year, with many new features that suggest a real revolution. The size of the car that will be unveiled will be on a 1: 1 scale: it will therefore be possible to see the measures of the concept designed to further increase the show on the track.
