Director of photography, editor and producer, Fabrice Aragno has worked for nearly twenty years with the director of Mépris. He gave some details on the plans of the 91-year-old filmmaker who wants to “go back to his origins”.

In March, Jean-Luc Godard, interviewed as part of the Kerala International Film Festival organized in India, announced that he would end his career once his two ongoing projects were completed: a film which will be broadcast on Arte,

Scenario

, and a another titled

Funny Wars

.

The director of the New Wave did not expand on the subject.

Less stingy in revelations, Fabrice Aragno, a close collaborator of the filmmaker for nearly twenty years, gave some details in an interview with

Variety

.

“We have two films to make.

Funny Wars

will be recorded in 16mm, 35mm black and white and Super 8 and

Script

in classic video style, with some Super 8 footage, ”

said the director of cinematography, editor and producer.

“Jean-Luc told me he wanted to go back to his origins. He asked me if I was particularly familiar with Chris Marker's film

La Jetée

, from which he wanted to draw inspiration,

”he said.

If it's his last movie, he'll say it's his last movie, and then there will be a twist.

Everyone will be waiting for him and then maybe he will say the opposite

Fabrice Aragno also provided some details on the shoot.

After the summer, we will do tests with an actress,” he

explains

.

The problem with the 35mm is that it is expensive.

We need at least two weeks of testing, but we're totally ready to shoot.

The people are ready, the idea is ready.

We just need to find the right energy, a non-COVID moment.

"

Finally, if the closest collaborator of the unfathomable Godard has provided some information on the unfolding of events, he nevertheless expressed some doubts about the end of the career of the 91-year-old director. “

I don't think one of the two films will be the last,” he

says.

Neither is designed to be his last film. But you have to ask him. If it's his last movie, he'll say it's his last movie, and then there will be a twist. Everyone will be waiting for him and then maybe he will say the opposite.
