The Government released this Monday the updated figures of the pandemic.
In the last 24 hours,
10,180 new cases
and another
503 deaths
from coronavirus
were confirmed
in Argentina.
The number of deaths marks
a sharp jump
compared to recent days and is the highest daily figure in almost a month (the previous one, 613 on July 14).
Thus, the fatal cases due to covid-19 are already
107,961
.
In addition, the country has
5,029,075 infected people
detected since the beginning of the health crisis, in March of last year.
The data were published by the Ministry of Health this afternoon, in the usual health report that is prepared daily with the figures provided by the provinces.
In Argentina, more than 20 million tests have been carried out since the beginning of the pandemic.

Argentina is currently the
8th
country with the highest number of confirmed infections and the
12th
with the most fatal cases, after being surpassed in the last hours by Indonesia.
When analyzing the figures for the last few days, the daily average of new infections is
11,864
, taking the figures for the 7 days prior to today's report.
It is the
16th
highest in the world.
A relevant fact: at the peak of May it had reached 33,171, almost triple.
The average number of reported deaths per day now stands at

- also with data from August 2-8, the
13th
globally - far from the peak of 603 recorded on June 11.

This afternoon, 400 thousand doses of the second component of Sputnik V arrived on an Aerolineas Argentinas flight, while at night a new shipment will arrive with 204,100 AstraZeneca vaccines.
As reported by the Ministry of Health, this week the arrival of
500 liters of the antigen is also expected
for the production in the country of more doses of component 2 of the Sputnik V vaccine by Laboratorios Richmond.
This laboratory had already announced that Argentina will have more than 3 million doses of the second component of Sputnik V manufactured locally in August.
The first 150,000 doses - they pointed out - will enter circulation this week.

According to official data, almost 80% of those over 18 years of age started their immunization scheme.

Since the beginning of the campaign, with the shipment that arrived this afternoon, Argentina received
43,201,930 vaccines
, of which 14,768,000 are Sinopharm;
12,268,830 Sputnik V (9,375,670 of component 1 and 2,893,160 of component 2);
9,941,100 from AstraZeneca and Oxford whose active principle was produced in Argentina;
3,500,000 Modern;
1,944,000 AstraZeneca through the COVAX mechanism and 580,000 AstraZeneca-Covishield, and 200,000 Cansino.
According to the latest official data, as of this morning 40,623,044 doses had been sent to the provinces, of which
5.9 million
still
remain to be applied
.
According to figures published in the Public Vaccination Monitor, 26,085,048 people received at least one vaccine.
This represents
56.9%
of the population, out of the 45,808,747 inhabitants estimated by INDEC this year.
In recent weeks, along with the reduction in infections, the occupation of intensive therapies throughout the country fell.

According to official data, this represents that
79.9%
of the population over 18 years of age began their vaccination scheme.
Within the total number of vaccinated, 8,581,083 people are included who also received the second dose with which the immunization schedule is completed.
That is,
18.7%
of the population.
Among those who completed the scheme, the percentages by age range are as follows: 65.4% of those over 70 years of age;
53.8% of people aged 60 or over;
and 43.2% of people aged 50 and over.
In addition, as reported by the Government, 26.3% of the population aged 18 or over already have both doses.
