The Swedish Prince Julian was baptized at Drottningholm Palace. He is in seventh place in the line of succession - but strictly speaking no longer belongs to the royal family.

On March 26th, Julian, the third son of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, was born in Stockholm.

Now he has been baptized in the church of Drottningholm Palace in front of the assembled Swedish royal family.

As can be seen in a photo on the website of the Swedish broadcaster SVT, the 36-year-old mother held the four and a half month old prince in her arms over the baptismal font while Bishop Johan Dalman performed the ritual.

In another picture, the person to be baptized and his brother Prins Gabriel can be seen together.

Pastor Michael Bjerkhagen and his father Carl Philip held hands over the little boy.

The altar and baptismal font were decorated with flower arrangements.

Princess Sophia wore a white dress embroidered with floral ornaments.

The Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lövfen canceled his participation in the celebration at short notice and was represented by the Minister of Justice.

Number seven of the line of succession

The grandson of King Carl XVI.

Gustaf, 75, is number seven in the Swedish line of succession after Crown Princess Victoria, her children Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar as well as his father and brothers Alexander and Gabriel.

Carl Gustaf decided in autumn 2019 that some of his grandchildren should no longer officially belong to the royal family.

This meant that the offspring of Princess Madeleine and her husband Christopher O'Neill as well as Carl Philip and Sofia did not have to exercise royal official duties at the highest level.

Prince Julian is therefore not part of the royal family and is not considered Royal Highness, but is a member of the royal family.
