Several hundred people, including Afghans, demonstrated in Paris on Sunday to demand “the immediate evacuation” to France of threatened Afghan families, a week after the Taliban took power in Afghanistan.

"We are calling for the immediate repatriation of all families and any person in danger", explains a 31-year-old Afghan refugee, Ezat, a social worker in an accommodation center in France, saying he is "very worried", among the demonstrators at Place de la République.

The signs and banners read: "evacuation now", "Afghans welcome" or, in English, "Save our family" and "afghans live matter" (Afghans lives matter).

"We are there for our families, they are not secure there, we would like them to come here, if they stay, they will die," assured Muhammad Younas, 24, an employee in the cleaning sector.

"A humanitarian disaster is on the way, we must prevent it now, open humanitarian corridors so that people who want to go out can get out," said Reza Jafari, president of the Children of Afghanistan association and elsewhere, co-organizer of the gathering.

In a leaflet, the associations mentioned the women and girls, journalists, activists and humanitarian workers to be protected.

"The situation in Afghanistan is really terrible," testified Osman, who arrived in France ten years ago and whose wife is still there.

Since the Taliban took power, "they have gradually started to search houses", assures the former Afghan journalist, for whom the Taliban "have not changed".

The organizing associations are asking for a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Yves Le Drian, "from this week".

In an interview published by the Journal du Dimanche, Mr. Le Drian assured Sunday that "All the cases of Afghans wanting to be exfiltrated which have arisen - and their number is growing day by day with hundreds of names - will be educated ”.

Since the establishment of the airlift set up after the fall of Kabul on Sunday, the French army has transported more than 600 people to Paris on five flights, the vast majority of them Afghans.

A sixth flight is expected Sunday evening at Roissy.
