(ANSA) - BEIJING, AUGUST 25 - The US has expressed support for Vietnam in maritime disputes with China.
"We must find ways to exert and increase the pressure, frankly, on Beijing to abide by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (Unclos, ed) and question its bullying and excessive maritime pretensions," said US Vice President Kamala. Harris, in the opening jokes open to the media of the meeting with the Vietnamese President Ngyuen Xuan Phuc.
Harris assured that the United States will maintain "a strong presence in the Southern China Sea" to contain China.
