But pumpkins don't just taste great as a soup or from the oven, they can also be made into a sweet cake.

It looks and tastes somewhat similar to carrot cake, and thanks to cinnamon and gingerbread spices, there is a little pre-Christmas mood.

Recipe for Pumpkin Pie with Frosting: You will need these ingredients
Portions: for a springform pan (20 cm)

For the pumpkin pie:
200 g Hokkaido pumpkin
3 eggs
160 g of sugar
200 grams of flour
100 g walnuts, chopped
140 ml tasteless oil
1 apple (approx. 150 g)
1½ teaspoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon gingerbread spice
2 teaspoons of lemon juice
50 g of orange peel - alternatively, orange zest is also possible
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 packet of baking powder
For the cream cheese frosting:
120 g butter
300 g cream cheese (double cream setting)
140 g powdered sugar
Good preparation
Take the butter and cream cheese out of the refrigerator about 2 hours before processing.
In order for the frosting to work properly, the ingredients have to be at room temperature.

Bake the juicy pumpkin pie with cream cheese frosting
Preheat the oven to 190 ° C top / bottom heat (175 ° C convection).
Grease the springform pan and then flour it.
For the cake, first
grate the pumpkin and the apple unpeeled and mix both.
Do you already know the trick with which you can easily cut open pumpkins without physical strength?
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, spices, and salt.
In another bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until light and creamy.
Then slowly run in the oil while stirring.
Add the grated pumpkin and apple as well as the chopped walnuts and orange peel and fold everything in.
Now pull the flour mixture into the mixture with a wooden spoon.
Pour the batter into the springform pan and bake the pumpkin pie in the oven for 45-50 minutes.
Do the chopsticks test towards the end of the baking time.
Then take the cake out and let it cool down.
For the frosting,
beat the butter with the powdered sugar for a few minutes until light and creamy.
Then stir in the cream cheese, tablespoon at a time.
Cut the cooled pumpkin pie horizontally.
Place the base on a cake plate and coat it with about a third of the cream cheese frosting.
Then put the cake topper on and press it down lightly.
Brush the pumpkin pie completely with the remaining frosting.
Chill the cake until ready to serve.
You can decorate it with walnuts if you like.
If you cover the pumpkin pie and put it in a cool place, you can prepare and store it the day before without any problems.
When the spices are well soaked, the cake tastes even more aromatic!
