INTERVIEW - Project manager of the rock dictionary, host of “Very Good Trip”, on France Inter, the journalist and novelist translated the book The Beatles: Get Back which comes out Thursday in bookstores.

LE FIGARO.

- How did you approach this work?

Michka ASSAYAS.

-

Antoine Carro, whom I knew from Laffont, asked me to translate this book.

It was intense, I had to do it in a short time.

The biggest difficulty was to render the dialogues.

I was helped by John Harris.

He did a real job as a playwright, it's almost a play on arrival.

It takes place in three weeks, there is an intrigue, drama (the departure of George Harrison).

For the reader who does not know everything, it can be read like that.

Did you learn a lot about the band?

I thought John and Paul didn't get along anymore, but nothing is further from the truth.

There is no cold between the two.

And I didn't know George had been so uncooperative.

McCartney didn't have enough authority to make it hold.

I also had no idea that Ringo had offered to continue with three.

It is often said that the recording of

Get Back

was disastrous and that of

Abbey Road

idyllic.
