(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, 27 OCT - Turkey expects a funding of over 3 billion dollars from the Green ClimateFund to carry out initiatives that address climate change.
"A memorandum of understanding was recently signed, for which we have negotiated for a long time, concerning a grant of 3.157 billion dollars from the Green Climate Fund to our country," Erdogan said today during the meeting of the parliamentary group of his AKP party.
Ankara recently ratified the Paris Climate Agreement becoming one of the last countries in the world to do so.
For a long time Turkey has been negotiating trying to be classified by the Green Climate Fund as a developing country, and not a developed state, so that it can access more financial aid for climate change projects.
