"The epidemic activity of Covid-19 is rising in France," said Sunday Antoine Flahault, epidemiologist at the Institute of Global Health, on Twitter.
If it remains relatively moderate compared to our neighbors in Eastern Europe, the new increase in the epidemic observed for several days is confirmed in hospitals.
According to data published Monday evening by Public Health France, 6,865 people are hospitalized due to a Covid-19 infection (6,709 the day before) against 6,639 last Monday.
In one week, there are four times more hospitalizations due to Covid-19: hospitals recorded 483 new admissions in 24 hours, compared to 103 seven days ago.
In addition, 1,141 people were treated in critical care services because of the coronavirus, against 1,101 the day before and 1,069 a week ago.
In the past 24 hours, 121 patients have entered it.
We deplore 55 deaths on Monday, bringing the total to 117,716 deaths in France since the start of the pandemic in mainland France in March 2020. Note, however, that the statistics are distorted at the weekend by incomplete information feedback, and that a catch-up is thus carried out thereafter.
The situation is worrying enough for Emmanuel Macron to consider conditioning the health pass to a third dose.
He could announce this measure during his speech on Tuesday evening.
Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 51,399,455 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 76.2% of the total population) and 50,273,490 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 74.6% of the total population).
In the past 24 hours, 171,274 doses have been injected.
