Sir Mick Jagger, 78, recently appeared on a hotel balcony in Florida with extremely futuristic-looking glasses. Just came back from a 3-D demonstration? Was he trying a new look for the stage? Could he be preparing for a role in a science fiction film? No. The rock star wore a silver-colored construction on his nose, which is used for so-called light therapy, as the "Times" reports. Light therapy glasses are said to use artificial light to improve the mood of the wearer, especially in winter. They cost around 200 euros and are available in department stores or online retailers. The glasses are recommended by doctors to treat depression caused by lack of light in the darker months of the year.The state of mind is particularly common in Nordic countries and, like depression, can lead to lack of energy, withdrawnness, increased need to sleep and eat and sexual disinterest. Since Jagger was with his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick in the sunshine state of Florida, where a lack of light shouldn't really be an issue, one can only speculate that he bought the glasses in anticipation of his return to his dark English homeland. The connection between mood swings and the seasons has not been fully scientifically clarified, reports the Times. According to recent studies, 3 in 100 people in the UK are said to be depressed.
