While the Omicron variant is gaining ground in Europe, and could experience rapid growth in France favored by the Christmas holidays, the Delta variant continues to increase hospital pressure.
This Tuesday, 14,819 Covid-19 patients are being treated in hospitals.
They were 14,527 Monday and 12,714 seven days ago.
The health authorities count this Tuesday 1,662 new people with the coronavirus admitted to French hospitals in the last 24 hours, against 1,505 on Monday.
Last Tuesday, 1,665 patients were hospitalized.
Among these patients, 2,792 occupy critical care services, reserved for the most severe cases.
They were 2,752 the day before and 2,351 a week earlier.
In addition, 158 deaths have been recorded at the hospital in the past 24 hours, up from 168 eight days ago.
On average, 131 people died daily from Covid-19 in hospital over the past week.
We have to go back to May 23 to find similar data.
Since the start of the pandemic, 120,832 people have died from Covid-19 in France.

Within a week, daily hospitalizations soared 14%, while daily hospital deaths rose 21%.
