Beetroot is perhaps one of the most underrated vegetables and a pity, because not only its taste and color should give it respect, but also its health properties: it contains many nutrients in a minimum of calories, improves digestion and brain health, and it also helps maintain sugar levels In the blood.
And that's not all - according to a new study funded by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) recently presented at the British Cardiovascular Association conference in Manchester, a glass of beet juice daily can minimize harmful inflammation in people with coronary heart disease.
Coronary heart disease is the most common type of heart disease, the most common cause of heart attacks and the biggest killer of men and women around the world.
According to the CDC, this disease caused the deaths of 360,900 people in 2019.

People suffering from this disease, it has been observed, suffer from a deficiency in nitric oxide, which our body naturally produces.
This component is essential in regulating blood pressure and has anti-inflammatory properties.
In the absence of adequate nitric oxide in patients with coronary heart disease, inflammation may worsen the condition of the arteries by clogging them with plaque.
This blockage can eventually lead to a heart attack or heart failure.
Dr Assad Shabir, a clinical research fellow at Queen Mary University in London, who led the study, was quoted as saying by the Guardian: The good bacteria we have in our mouths actually convert nitrogen into nitric oxide, and the molecules of nitric oxide in the body contribute to the dilation of blood vessels.
The study was conducted on 114 healthy volunteers of whom 78 received a vaccine against typhoid (which caused temporary heart inflammation) and 36 others received a cream for causing small blisters - another form of local inflammation.
They received 140 ml of beet
juice daily, for seven days, and while half of the participants had nitrate-rich juice, the other half had nitrate-free juice.
Of markers of nitric oxide in the blood, urine and saliva compared to those who consumed the juice when the nitrate was removed.
The study found that the juice with the nitrate also restored endothelial function (a thin membrane that coats the interior of the heart and blood vessels) that maintains normal vascular function, but cannot do so in case of inflammation.
