Hospitalizations for Covid-19 increased by 17.7%.
This was revealed by the Italian Federation of Healthcare and Hospitals (Fiaso) with the data of the sentinel hospital network, relating to 28 June.
Admissions to ordinary wards (+ 20.9%) are the most important.
In particular, hospitalized for Covid, i.e. with respiratory and pulmonary syndromes (+ 34.5%), while hospitalized with Covid, i.e. those who arrive in hospital for other diseases and are found to be incidentally positive, rise by 10%.
For the president of Fiaso, Giovanni Migliore,
the time elapsed since the last vaccination affects the
increase in hospitalizations .
Still in intensive care, 38% of hospitalized patients are unvaccinated and the percentage rises to 56% among
those who have developed lung disease
and are hospitalized for Covid.
In addition, the average age of hospitalized in intensive care is lowered (59 for the vaccinated and 48 for the unvaccinated)
.
"The increase in hospitalizations recorded today is significant not only due to the increase in the number of patients, but above all because
the prevalence of the lung disease typical of the
SarsCov2 virus, the so-called hospitalized for Covid, is growing again", notes Migliore.
"While in recent months the clinical management of the Covid patient has led to the creation of multidisciplinary departments in which patients with fractures or internal and surgical pathologies ended up, found incidentally positive for the virus but in need of specialist assistance for other pathologies, now - he notes -
they return to be necessary respiratory assistance and ventilation
. It should be considered that
all vaccinated and hospitalized patients have now taken the last dose for over 6 months
and this
increases the risk that there will be an increase in hospitalizations
in the coming weeks ".
Finally, admissions to pediatric wards also increased by 13.3%
, especially in very young children, between 0 and 4 years (66.7%).
Even for children, the increase focuses on hospitalizations For Covid.
