Improvement in Gironde, 40 hectares burned in the Gard... update on the fires

2022-07-25T08:00:47.507Z

In La Teste-de-Buch, all the evacuated inhabitants were able to return home, which is not yet the case in the Landiras sector.

The situation remains mixed in France on the forest fire front.

If it stabilizes in the disaster areas of Gironde, while remaining under close surveillance, fires continue to occur elsewhere in the country, especially as several departments remain on alert due to the heat wave.

Fire fixed and residents return to La Teste-de-Buch

The Gironde prefecture said on Sunday that “temperatures above 35°C caused the appearance of fumaroles and fire starts” in La Teste-de-Buch.

Air assets remain deployed to fight against these recoveries.

The drop in temperatures on Monday should help to improve the situation.

The fire, however, has been fixed since Saturday.

“All the evacuated residents were able to return to their homes, with the support of the national police.

The fire is contained by firefighters, but not yet fixed.

40 hectares burned in the Gard

Sunday, a fire took in the Gard, in the town of Vallabrix.

According to franceinfo, around forty hectares burned.

Five Canadair and about 250 firefighters were mobilized.

An equestrian center was evacuated.

The firefighters had to deal with "fire swings", according to the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) of the department.

This Monday morning, the disaster is fixed.

France Bleu specifies that the firefighters will continue to drown the last hot spots all day.

Only a shed was destroyed and a firefighter was slightly injured due to heat stroke.

Fire outbreaks in Vaucluse and Corsica

On Sunday, firefighters had to intervene on the edge of the A7 motorway due to a fire starting, reports La Provence.

The regional daily explains that "the flames took around 5 p.m., in the North-South direction at the height of the town of Mondragon".

Forty firefighters went to the scene to contain the flames as quickly as possible.

In Corsica, three fires started.

In Castello-di-Rostino (Haute-Corse), an area very difficult to access, two Canadair and two helicopters intervened.

According to Corse-Matin, two other fire starts have been listed elsewhere in the department, in Aghione and Santo-Pietro-di-Tenda.

Surveillance in Mailhac

In Aude, the Mailhac area remains under surveillance.

The independent explains that firefighters continue to monitor the site.

The flames destroyed 200 hectares on Friday.

The fire was reignited on Saturday.

Heat and wind made the situation uncertain on Sunday.

The tramontana should continue to blow this Monday and Tuesday.

No barbecue in the Vosges de Moselle, walks prohibited in the Hérault

The Lorraine Republican reports that barbecues are banned in the forests of the Vosges de Moselle, including in areas where they are normally allowed.

“The risk of fire has never been so high, so early in the season.

The ban runs for at least two weeks.

In the south of the country, the Gardiole massif, in the Hérault, was forbidden to all walks.

France Bleu recalls that drought and heat constitute a real risk of fire outbreak.

The ban applies for the whole day.

Caution in Charente-Maritime

In Charente-Maritime, it is not authorized to use a barbecue, a gas stove or to smoke within a radius of 200 m around the woods.

The agents of the National Forestry Office ensure that these instructions are applied on 12,000 hectares of state forests, according to France Bleu.
