Six years that fans have been waiting for the return of their idol Beyoncé.
But it didn't take long for the pop star to find himself at the heart of controversy: in less than a week, the
Renaissance
album has already undergone two changes.
After having re-recorded the title
Heated
,
following the use of an offensive term for people with disabilities, it is the turn of the song
Energy
to get a makeover.
Since Wednesday August 3, a sample has disappeared from the song
,
as reported by
Rolling Stone
.
The day after the album was released on July 30, Kelis reacted on her Instagram account to the use of her hit
Milkshake
, produced by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, in 2003. Singer Kelis blamed to Queen B, for using her song without her consent and without even informing her.
She also states that she was not mentioned in the
Energy
credits , unlike The Neptunes.
“I am blown away by the level of disrespect and utter ignorance from all three parties involved. I discovered this sample the same way as everyone else. Nothing is ever what it seems, some people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have fooled everyone,”
Kelis said.
Beyoncé eventually took the singer's criticism into account and deleted the sample from
Milkshake
, her sister's hit.
On some listening platforms, like Apple Music, the
Milkshake
sample disappeared from Beyoncé's song.
However, it is still possible to find the original version with Kelis' track, on Spotify and Youtube.
