Maybe enough with the Tumblevision?: The things we would like to see less of on the small screen this year Israel today

In honor of the Hebrew New Year, the next New Year, we stopped to reflect a little on our viewing habits. Some streamlining suggestions on the subject, which will make staring at the small screen a more lively, enlightening, challenging and satisfying experience

Television is an integral part of our lives, and if we judge by the rating data and the number of views on the various websites and streaming services, we are completely in love with this device, which is placed or hung above the sideboard or in the bedroom.

In honor of the upcoming New Year's Eve, we have compiled all the screen ailments that we should and should get rid of, just before we say goodbye to another year of trite Hebrew TV with a severe and recurring feeling of déjà vu. From politicians who talk mostly about nothing, to endless confusion in the programs The morning - everything that can be fixed to make the favorite pastime of all of us much more enriching and correct.

Morning programs

We haven't even sipped this morning's coffee and we are already digging about yet another unnecessary study done at Tiz al Nabi, the only thing that determines the results is that they think we are stupid enough to believe them.

For an average of two hours, the pair of moderators do everything to eat our brains and inject into our minds a stream of obviously useless content, which is stopped only for the purposes of advertisements or news flashes that only make our badness worse.

Between hosting a network host and an expert on hemorrhoids, there is also of course a healthy recipe for a buckwheat crepe that disgusts the foxes.

We don't know who decided that this is how it should and should start the morning, but he is making a serious mistake.

reality shows

Not sure at all that a detailed explanation is needed for this title, but we will expand anyway.

The saturation of reality shows is felt in every living room in Israel, and not just today.

In recent years, reality show culture has taken over our lives in a particularly disturbing way.

How often can you see people like you get married on the first date, and contestants who fight and fight with each other inside a closed house that has made them a shadow of themselves?

How much is possible with the filth and denials?

And that's even before we talked about another food show, at the end of which the winner gets to skip to another food reality show, in the hope that this time something will change for the better in his faltering career (see Yehuda Amar and Or Tergan's article).

Interviews with politicians

It's hard for us to find anything more embarrassing on TV than interviews with politicians.

Even if important questions are asked (and the truth must be told, they are sometimes asked), not a single satisfactory concrete answer is received from the shrewd questioner on duty.

The answer is always accompanied by slogans, words that can be interpreted one way or the other, evasions, and formulations that sound, feel and smell like propaganda.

Moving message pages.

Dear journalists and news anchors: instead of sitting down and interviewing another member of the Knesset for a reason that will not innovate anything and make you and us know, take advantage of the screen time to firmly and accurately criticize his actions.

No discounts.

And it doesn't matter at all (we know it will be challenging) which side he is on the political map.

source series

Just before you make a "fouda" about us, we want to clarify things.

There are quite a few Israeli works that are nothing less than masterpieces and evidence of appreciation and full patronage, and if we chose to mention each and every one of them, the list would be very long.

Having said that, we have to honestly say that among all these successful ones, there are also quite a few original series that we feel got the green light and made it to the screen just because it's very cool now to promote Hebrew work at any cost.

In the tough war between the TV channels and the cable and satellite company over who brings the next crazy hit that will break all the viewership records - the quality of the content goes down, and the viewer is the one who pays the price.

A little more in-depth thought before making decisions on the matter, and we will have a perfect refinement of an Israeli creation.

"dramatic" promos

"You won't believe it", "the fatal mistake of...", "the big drama", are just some examples of bombastic sentences that feed us trailers, which have no connection to the content of the show itself.

This was done, of course, in order to attract us to watch another episode, and in the end it turns out that the whole big drama is actually about a case where one of the contestants in some generic cooking reality show forgot to put turmeric in the soup.

Almaz Mengistu and the "double drama",

It's time to stop foolishly underestimating the intelligence of the average viewer, and treat him with the seriousness and respect he deserves.

Over the years, little by little, the trust between the public and the media channels has cracked more and more, and the reason lies, among other things, in these "dramatic" and unsubstantiated promises.
