Covid: Iss, cases of school age children rise, from 11% to 14.9%

The percentage of Covid-19 cases reported in

the school-age population compared to the rest of the population

is increasing compared to last week : 14.9% compared to 11.1% 7 days ago.

25% of school-age cases were diagnosed in children under-5, 39% in the 5-11 age group, 36% in the 12-19 age group.

This is highlighted by the extended report of the Higher Institute of Health, which accompanies the weekly monitoring of the epidemic in Italy.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, 4,577,377 cases have been reported in the population 0-19 years of age, of which 23,275 hospitalized, 518 hospitalized in intensive care and 72 deaths. 

In the last week, the percentage of reinfections from Covid-19 out of the total reported cases has increased compared to the previous week: it is in fact equal to 17.8% compared to 15.8% seven days ago.

From 24 August 2021 to 21 September 2022, 1,148,356 cases of reinfection were reported, equal to 6.4% of the total cases notified in the same period.

The 7-day incidence rate, the report reads, is also increasing in all age groups.

The highest incidence rate is recorded in the 50-59 age group (267 cases per 100,000) while in the 20-29 age group the lowest value is recorded, equal to 154 cases per 100,000.
