After a three-year break, "Night of the Proms" is back: At the end of the tour, the show will be played three times in Munich's Olympiahalle.

We were there at the start, our criticism:

Munich – Christmas without the Night of the Proms is like speculoos without almond pieces: good, but missing that certain something.

Christmas 2022, after three years of a forced break due to corona, is finally back with pieces of almonds - on Friday evening (December 16th) the first of three concerts took place in the sold-out Munich Olympiahalle.

The last stop of this year's tour.

Unfortunately, without the candy on top: A year ago, the legendary John Miles (72) died, who embodied and set to music exactly what makes Night of the Proms so special at countless "Proms" concerts with his song "Music was my first love". : Pop and classical in one evening.

Christmas for all generations.

At Night of the Proms, all wishes will be fulfilled in 2022 as well.

You can even waltz as the wonderful Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Alexandra Arrieche, performs Johann Strauss's 'On the Beautiful Blue Danube'.

Crazy: after a good three hours (including a 30-minute break) the same people dance to "Celebration" and "Get Down on It".

In the first year after John Miles' death, the "Proms Tour" features: the wonderful Amy Macdonald ("This Is The Life"), the never-aging Nik Kershaw ("Wouldn't It Be Good"), the still strong-voiced Carol Decker from T'Pau ("China in Your Hand") as well as the wonderfully nice Matt Simons ("We Can Do Better") and the cheerful, soulful saxophonist Yolanda Brown.

And as the best Christmas present: the party hits from Kool & The Gang ("Celebration" and Co.).

What a party!

Waltz, the prisoner choir from "Nabucco", "Freude schön Götterfunken", 80s pop, hits from modern times and a funky dance party: that's "Night of the Proms" 2022. The best pre-Christmas atmosphere in the sold-out Olympiahalle, soothing like almond speculoos.

"After 1000 days without a show we are ready.

Are you ready?” is written on the screen behind the stage at the beginning of the show.

The response from the audience is loud and clear: Cheers!

John Miles jr. provides a very emotional moment.

, who plays his father's legendary song "Music was my first love" on the tour together with the choir and orchestra.

For this he sits on the wing of the senior - there roll with some tears of emotion.

Finally, a Christmas riddle: what rhymes with "charm"?

Marcus Fahn.

The moderator guides you through the evening in a charming, unobtrusive and funny way.

Sample: “The only 3G rule that applies today: guests in a good mood.” Everyone is happy to stick to this rule.

Night of the Proms is still on Saturday, December 17 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 18 at 3 p.m. in the Olympiahalle.

There are still a few remaining tickets available.
