Signs in yellow, blue or white: These small signs with numbers and letters are very important.
In Germany, motorists in particular are always annoyed by a completely opaque forest of signs on the road.
According to
echo24.de
*, these also include completely unknown traffic signs, such as the yellow-orange sign with arrows and numbers*, or a bold orange arrow on the motorways*.
But there are also signs off the streets that everyone has already seen - but nobody knows what they mean: yellow, blue or white, with numbers and letters.
Again and again you can find these small signs in everyday life.
Whether you are traveling by car, by bike or on foot.
These yellow, blue or white signs hang on lanterns, fences or directly on the walls of houses.
But for most people, the numbers and individual letters and lines shown make little sense.
Signs in yellow, blue or white: they provide important information
If you take a closer look at the signs, you can still recognize individual words.
So there is usually a reference to water, gas or electricity on it.
These are information signs for road installations or utility facilities.
With their help, according to the definition, reference is made to line organs such as underground hydrants or gate valves of water supply, sewage disposal, gas, district heating lines, or their course.
In short: they show where lines and pipes run and whether they are for water, gas or electricity.
The numbers, letters and lines on the signs are precise
But what do the numbers, letters and lines on the signs mean?
Appropriate specialists can use them to find the exact position for access to the relevant lines.
In addition, the yellow, blue or white information signs also indicate whether there is a cover and what type of connection is on site.

Overall, four factors are important for the signs: the color, the lines and letters, and the numbers.
When it comes to colors, the palette even goes beyond blue (water pipe), yellow (gas pipe) and white (electricity pipe).
There are also orange (district heating pipe), green (sewage pipe) and a white sign with a red border to indicate the nearest hydrant or water connection.
Signs in yellow, blue or white: the exact distance
The different numbers on the labels, which are usually yellow, blue, or white, represent the distance from the label to the appropriate cover or connector.
If this number is on the right, then these meters have to be covered to the right, if the number is on the left, then you have to go to the left.
If there is a number at the bottom, it is the distance to the front.

The large letters indicate which connection is on site.
A HA, for example, stands for house connection.
An AH is a stopcock, S stands for slider and AV for shut-off valve.
The number next to the letters on the sign indicates the pipe or power diameter in centimeters to be expected.
However, the abbreviation system for water, electricity, gas, district heating and waste water includes far more than 60 combinations.
Placing the signs on buildings: owner must tolerate it
Finally, look at the bold T in the middle of the signs.
It provides better orientation.
This makes it clear what is on the left and what is on the right.
According to the specifications, the yellow, blue or white signs should ideally be attached to buildings.
On fences and posts it is rather an exception.
A separate construction is often set up for this purpose.
The owners on whose property such a sign is erected must tolerate the installation.
