The veteran singer releases the song "Missing", which is dedicated to his wife who passed away, and is accompanied by a music video that contains pictures from small moments of his and Edna's life • "I did everything to save her and I failed," he says

Oshik Levy today looks back to the summer of 2020 as one of the most challenging and complex periods in his life.

These are the days of Corona, and he, like other Israeli artists, finds himself for the first time in 60 years of activity without stages to perform on.

That same summer, his wife Edna passed away after a battle with cancer, and he had no choice but to look directly at the loss and deal with her passing at a time of global, personal and professional crisis.

He transcribed the pain of those days into "Missing", his new single, which is dedicated to his deceased wife and is accompanied by a music video that contains still images from small moments of his and Edna's life.

"I wrote the text at seven," he says.

"My wife passed away after a month and a half of dying in front of my eyes, and it was one of the hardest times in my life, if not the hardest. We went to Tel Hashomer hospital every day.

Chemo, radiotherapy, intensive treatments.

Everything you can think of about this damn disease.

I made every effort to try to save her, but I failed.

There was no reason to continue the treatments because they did not help her.

We were married for 41 years."

It is not easy to write in such a time.

You didn't have any shows to run to either.

"In the two years of the corona virus, I almost didn't perform, because I don't like either roofs or grass, but soon there will also be a concert tour. It was definitely not an easy time."

The new song comes out during a fruitful period for Levy, who plans to soon release an album with several singles that have been released recently, alongside his unheard materials.

In recent years he has worked with artists such as Peter Roth, Hanan Ben Ari and the rapper Tuna, and it is clear that it is important for him to collaborate with names from different generations of creation.

"I'm curious and like to try new things. In 2013 I recorded the album 'Sound and Material', material by guys from the 80s and 90s like Roquefort, Aviv Gefen and Shina. The band I have right now are also talented and young guys. It's great fun that they also appreciate the music we made in the past," he shares.
