Hundreds of town halls of large and small municipalities, but also institutional buildings - Chamber, Senate, Palazzo Chigi, Viminale, Farnesina and other ministries

- will light up in blue from 6 to 9 pm together with many symbolic monuments of the country.

All in compliance with the celebration of the

National Day for the civilian victims of wars and conflicts in the world, established in January 2017

with the aim of remembering the sacrifice of the population during the World Wars and raising awareness among the community on the impact of subsequent conflicts and than current ones on civilians around the world.

The initiative, which also received a greeting message from Pope Francis, was presented to the press in a joint event organized by

Anci and Anvcg, the National Association of Civil War Victims,

which were attended, among others, by school groups and councilors from many municipal realities.

Roberto Pella, vicar vice president of Anci, said he was "happy to be alongside Anvcg to celebrate the National Day which reminds us how the memory of civilian victims of wars must be preserved and the culture of peace must be built every day. Its celebration unfortunately falls into a dramatic moment for Europe which, after almost a year, still finds no respite. But above all - he observed - we are happy to see the participation and many school groups connected from all over Italy. For us mayors, this initiative is a feedback to verify the sensitivity of citizens to start a path of sensitivity for peace in the world. I am happy with the Pope's message, but also with the participation of many ministries and many municipalities whose buildings will light up in blue tonight".For Michele Corcio, national vice president of Anvgc, "the Italian civilian victims of war, on this Day, hope that the protection and protection of civilians will be guaranteed throughout the world, not only during conflicts but also after their conclusion".

Ciro Buonajuto, mayor of Ercolano, intervened among the mayors, according to whom "after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Anvcg, the Italian Municipalities have shown that they want to be increasingly active in the implementation of the law and in the promotion of its values".

Testimonies were brought by the first citizens of Pesaro, Udine, Misterbianco (Catania), Castel Gandolfo (Rome) and Procida.

Responding to the invitation from Anci and the National Association of Civil War Victims, many municipalities will also display the #stopallebombesuicivili banner this evening.
