After the death of two men in Berazategui after consuming meat and offal in poor condition at the end of January, Justice has now raided the SUBGPA refrigerator in that town.
This occurs within the framework of the cause that investigates the cases of poisoning by Shigella, Salmonella and Leptospirosis that also left several people affected.
More than 100 people participated in the search and it was carried out by the Federal Police, with the intervention of the ANMAT and the Berazategui Prosecutor's Office 7.
It comes after the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires updated the results on the cases that occurred last January and confirmed that two of those infected tested positive for Leptospirosis.
Official sources from the Buenos Aires Health portfolio indicated, through a statement, that "the cases of the 4 adults hospitalized for acute diarrhea in Berazategui, which occurred in the first three weeks of January 2023, gave rise to a study on suspicion of outbreak of food origin, due to the common history of ingestion of meat and derivatives", and Leptospirosis and Salmonellosis are confirmed as reported.
The detail of the analyzes
The corresponding samples confirmed that two of the reported cases had a common history of consumption of meat and derivatives from the same butcher shop (a 48-year-old man, deceased, and another 40-year-old).
Meanwhile, in the other two cases, a common food source was not identified.
Food was confiscated in the identified butcher shop (minced meat and preparation for milanesas), as well as in the distributor transport (offal).

The National Food Institute (INAL) of the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) carried out the analysis of the samples, reporting the absence of Salmonella and Escherichia Coli, explained from the health portfolio.
The characteristics of the four detected cases were of a 48-year-old man, who died on January 12, whose diarrhea started 4 days earlier, with a diagnosis of Salmonella Tiphymurium in feces.
A 36-year-old man, with a history of diarrhea, admitted on January 16 with septic shock, died on January 17, with a diagnosis of Salmonella and Shigella in feces, and confirmation of Leptospirosis.
A 40-year-old man, who started symptoms on January 14, was admitted with a diagnosis of erysipelas and diarrhea due to Salmonella, and was discharged on the 30th with good evolution (he was linked to the first case because he had bought at the same butcher shop).
And a 47-year-old man, who began with the symptoms on the 17th, was admitted on the 20th with septic shock, who presented a good evolution, Leptospirosis was also confirmed.
In this case, no pathogenic bacteria were isolated in fecal matter.
