Climate demonstrators in Berlin have again caused significant traffic obstructions with a road blockade.
Members of the "Last Generation" group poured concrete on the roadway of the Mühlendamm Bridge in Berlin-Mitte on Wednesday morning.
According to a police spokesman, twelve people took part in the action, nine of them stuck to the road in the direction of Alexanderplatz.
Around 20 police officers are on site.
Traffic was largely diverted.
As the traffic information center (VIZ) Berlin announced on Twitter, there were 15 to 20-minute traffic jams from Leipziger Straße and Grunerstraße.
The group "last generation" said that the focus of the action was the "misguided transport policy of the German federal government".
With the pouring out of the concrete, it will be used "for a more meaningful purpose" than the construction of new climate-damaging motorways.
The "last generation" has been protesting for much stricter climate protection measures for a year.
It relies primarily on blocking roads and airports, with activists usually sticking to the spot.
But there were also high-profile protests in ministries, museums and concert halls.
Their street blockades have so far mainly taken place in Berlin and Munich, but there have also been actions elsewhere.
The group is demanding that the government convene a “social council” made up of randomly drawn citizens.
The spokespersons explained that this should develop measures with which Germany could reduce CO₂ emissions to zero by 2030.
The government should also undertake beforehand to implement the committee's proposals.
