Based on their biometric data records, a team from the National Registry of Persons (Renaper) identified the two twin babies born on January 6 who, in a fortuitous and accidental event, were virtually left with their identities mixed up for their mother and his father.

This story began when Sofía Rodríguez and Leonardo Costa -who currently reside in the town of San Francisco, Córdoba- were parents for the first time of the twins Lorenzo and Valentín Costa Rodríguez.

One night, according to what they said, when they were still in the Mendoza hospital where they were born, the babies got dirty, and Sofía and Leonardo decided to remove their identification bracelets to sanitize them.

From then on, the parents were unable to identify which child was which due to their obvious similarity.

Upon transcending the particular case and the request for help from the parents, the Minister of the Interior, Wado de Pedro, entrusted the Renaper authorities, and particularly the incumbent Santiago Rodríguez, to make available the technical resources to solve the family dilemma, which It was finally resolved today by a team from the agency dependent on the Interior.

Previously, the parents had unsuccessfully tried to differentiate the twins by their physical features or particular signs, so they publicly expressed the particular problem.

In this context, the Renaper team of specialists went to the family's current home in San Francisco, Córdoba, where they took the biometric data of the children, which were sent online to the Identification area.

The biometric data were contrasted by the fingerprint experts against those that appear in the Renaper database, obtained when the babies' ID cards were made.

As a consequence of this rapid action, the identity of each baby could be confirmed at the time.

To finish with the task of identifying the twins, the Renaper issued a Data Certificate to the family for each of the children.

Dependent on the Ministry of the Interior, the Renaper is in charge of the identification and documentation of all the inhabitants of Argentina, with exclusive responsibility for the issuance of DNI and passports.
