Yesterday evening in a tweet, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen disclosed a "fruitful phone call with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on migration ahead of the European Council. We must continue to act in a swift and coordinated way. This is how we achieved solid progress so far. We have discussed the need to support our North African partners, to prevent irregular departures and loss of life at sea".
