"It is essential that the process, both civil and criminal, becomes a more agile and modern tool to adequately pursue the objectives for which it is prepared. It is necessary that Government and Parliament, Judiciary and lawyers, commit themselves to achieve this result". This was said by President Sergio Mattarella speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the headquarters of the Superior School of the Judiciary in Castel Capuano.

"Within the framework of constitutional balances, judges are "subject only to the law". This creates the only possible link, in a state governed by the rule of law, between the judge, neither elective nor politically responsible, and popular sovereignty, of which the law, the work of parliamentarians elected by the people and politically responsible, is the first expression". In these considerations we find the essence of the independence of the Judiciary as an irrenounceable heritage of the rule of law and of our constitutional democracy". This was said by President Sergio Mattarella speaking at the Superior School of the Judiciary in Naples.

Nordio: the first package of reforms is ready - "A first package of measures - marked by guarantees and pragmatism - is ready to be submitted to the Council of Ministers and then to the parliamentary debate". So on the reform of justice Minister Carlo Nordio, speaking in Naples at the opening ceremony of a seat of the Higher School of the Judiciary, attended by the head of state. The School, hopes the Keeper of the Seals, "can become - once again - a precious 'gym' of knowledge also for the reforms that we will present in the coming weeks".

"Presumption of innocence and certainty of punishment are two inseparable faces of guaranteeism. In this twofold, convergent direction the reforms in the pipeline intend to move, continuing to work to overcome a prison-centric vision of punishment". This was stated by the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, speaking - in the presence of the Head of State - at the inauguration ceremony in Naples of a seat of the Higher School of the Judiciary.
