You don't always take advantage of what you're offered and sometimes you take too much of it. And have you ever tried to find out what's outside the resort? The mistakes you make on all-inclusive sites

All-inclusive vacations are not a new invention, but it seems that we Israelis have perfected it in a big way. All-inclusive resorts are the height of indulgence - at a fixed price. In short, a deal that is not cheap but definitely worthwhile, one that will leave you relaxed when it comes to your expenses on the trip. But it turns out that even those who think they are experts on such vacations can make some mistakes. The Smarter Travel website presents five common mistakes.

Mistake 1: You're sure everything is really included

The phrase "all-inclusive" certainly sounds too good to be true at times, but don't let it fool you. The best thing you can do is assume – while planning your vacation – that not everything is included. Sometimes you'll find that you have to pay extra for special tours of the area, certain spa activities, meal or restaurant upgrades, and of course room service and alcohol. And even if the travel website covers all of these things, sometimes you'll find that you have to pay for additional charges related to your flight, baggage, airport transfers, and more. Therefore, read carefully in advance all the terms indicated in the fine print of the transaction. It would also be a good idea to compare different all-inclusive sites, as some give more than others.

Mistake 2: You chose the wrong website

Let's be precise: "right" is subjective, because one family's paradise can be another family's hell. Therefore, you should make sure in advance that you go for the site that best suits the needs and desires of all family members. Check comments and recommendations, pay attention to who comes to this site, check whether it emphasizes one topic or another (just like a thematic park) and also examine its location. There are prestigious sites and there are those that offer a more rustic and relaxed atmosphere. Not everyone connects to the same style. As for the location - it all depends on whether you like to stay in remote sites or those close to city centers. In short, do your homework to set expectations.

Mistake 3: You didn't really take advantage of "everything"

Generally, all-inclusive resorts have plenty of activities and services that you would normally pay more for than a regular resort. For example, use of a golf course, gym or unique tour. And this is exactly why these sites are more expensive. Therefore, even in this case, it is worthwhile to research in advance what exactly the site offers and not simply arrive and expect all this good to reach you. After all, an all-inclusive resort can be a real waste if you haven't taken advantage of all (or most) of what you're offered.

Mistake 4: You Haven't Stopped Eating and Drinking

On the other hand, there are places where it's really not recommended to take advantage of everything you're offered. We are talking of course about food and drink. It's no secret that these sites offer an endless buffet, with a huge variety of foods and drinks. In short, it is very difficult to resist the temptation. But while pampering yourself on vacation is always a good idea, in this case you should stop the binge so as not to harm your health. Our suggestion: Try to focus on dishes you don't know, thus enhancing the experience. In addition, it is highly discouraged to mix different types of alcohol, so as not to spend the morning after with a severe hangover. Did you start with a beer? Stay with her. The wine will wait for the next evening.

Mistake 5: You don't leave the resort

Why really leave a place where there are endless activities, food and drink? After all, there are those who make sure that you will always be tasty and interesting. So yes, despite the temptation, it is highly recommended to spend some time exploring the surroundings - sampling nature trails, going to a cute local restaurant and getting refreshing, original and unforgettable experiences. After all, that's why we travel the world in the first place.
