So far, the traffic light colors can only be accessed online, but they will soon be visible in the new traffic light from Monday to next Saturday, reports the "Lebensmittelzeitung" (LZ)

The long search has come to an end: Lidl customers can now also check the availability of non-food promotional items in the store using a traffic light system.

In the case of promotional goods, it often happens that interested customers stand in front of empty shelves and have to look in other stores. Most recently, Lidl's anniversary collection was sold out within a very short time. In order to save customers the long search for promotional goods, Lidl now wants to introduce a new traffic light system for non-food promotional goods, from which customers should benefit.

New traffic light system for promotional goods displays real-time inventory

For some time now, Lidl customers have been able to use the Lidl app to see the availability of current non-food promotional items in the respective stores. This enabled customers to visit a store with high inventory or order directly online. Now, thanks to a new system, store employees will soon be able to see on their devices how high or low the stock of promotional goods is, reports the "Lebensmittelzeitung".

With a traffic light system, availability is displayed in real time. This enables employees to query their own stocks as well as those of other stores. If the goods are missing in their own store, customers can be sent to another store where there are still enough promotional goods.

This planned innovation is intended to offer an advantage, especially for customers who do not use the Lidl app. In the past, it was not clear whether a particular promotional offer was still in stock in the size, colour or even available at the consumer's request. However, this information is now available through a change in IT.

The system works by extracting detailed information from the cash register data of the branches. These record the color or size in which an item was sold, for example. This means that it is also possible to specify exactly how high the stock of the respective branch still is. The colours are available online. Red means "sold out", yellow means "almost sold out" and green means "available".

New traffic light system so far only available online

So far, the traffic light colors can only be accessed online. "Articles that are advertised on Mondays will be visible in the new traffic light from Monday to next Saturday. Articles from Thursday advertising can be found online in the traffic light until next Saturday," reports the consumer portal "Chip".

"In addition, according to LZ, Lidl is also thinking about integrating the traffic light for stationary customers on the sales floor," it also says. Most recently, the discounter giant Lidl planned a major change, because of which two prices will soon be on the labels of products.
