The head of the Russian National Guard Viktor Zolotov announced today the elimination of more than 20 militants and the arrest of more than seventy others in the framework of security operations carried out in the Russian Caucasus since the beginning of this year.
"About 1,500 special operations have been carried out, during which 22 illegal armed gang members have been eliminated and 73 others have been arrested since the beginning of this year," Zolotov said in an exclusive interview with TASS.
He added that "during these operations were also destroyed four militant strongholds and 93 weapons stores and also seized about 2,000 grenades, mortar and landmine and 48 explosive devices and about 35 kg of explosives," stressing that all these operations were carried out in close cooperation with the Russian Interior Ministry and Federal Security and the Department of Defense.
