Three ships with migrants are waiting in the Mediterranean to call at a port. The situation is getting more difficult. A German captain warns: "We will have to end the situation shortly."

According to the captain, the situation on the German rescue ship "Eleonore" is unbearable. "We will soon have to bring an end to this situation," said Claus-Peter Reisch on Sunday in a Twitter video. More than 110 people huddled on board its ship on an area of 46 square meters for seven days.

The Dresden aid organization Mission Lifeline, which supports Reisch, explained that in the case of the "Eleonore" an emergency entry into a port was also possible without an authorization. "If the ship becomes a distress, then this is possible in principle," said Lifeline spokesman Axel Steier. On Monday should raise a storm. The ship is currently in front of Malta, theoretically Italy is also possible as a destination. However, the Italian government had issued a ban on entry.

This also applies to two other ships waiting to dock in the Mediterranean Sea. The German ship "Alan Kurdi" took on 13 new migrants on Saturday, who were traveling on an overloaded wooden boat in the direction of Lampedusa. Before Lampedusa also floats the "Mare Jonio" of the Italian aid organization Mediterranea Saving Humans with at least 30 people on board.

Most recently, German captain Carola Rackete was illegally driven to the port of Lampedusa and was temporarily arrested. The incident had made international headlines.
