This evening, the city of Saydnaya celebrated the birthday of Our Lady in the monastery of Our Lady of Sednaya.
The Patriarchal Assistant to the Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East for the Greek Orthodox Archbishop Luke El-Khoury stressed in his speech the high meanings to celebrate the birthday of Our Lady, praying to God to preserve Syria and its people and support its valiant army and its leader, President Bashar al-Assad.
The celebration included theatrical, artistic and musical performances, panoramic lighting of the monastery and fireworks.
It is noteworthy that the church includes the icon of the Virgin Mary painted by St. Luke, one of the five icons painted by this doctor St. between 63 and 67 AD in Jerusalem.
In a statement to SANA, Patriarchal Patriarchal Archbishop Moussa Al-Khouri said that a large number of citizens of Arab and foreign countries came to the monastery of Al-Sayyida to witness this great and important celebration.
Al-Khouri said that the victories of the Syrian Arab Army made these celebrations possible and that we pray for the return of peace and security to every inch of our homeland and that God have mercy on our martyrs and healing our wounds.
In turn, Father George Najma, the priest of the parish of Our Lady of Sednaya, confirmed that the birthday of Our Lady has returned as it was in previous years thanks to the sacrifices of the heroes of our Syrian Arab Army and the courage of our leadership, pointing out that the return of security and safety prompted many Syrians and expatriates as well as visitors from Arab and foreign countries to return to participate in this Celebration.
In turn, the expatriate in Germany Jacqueline Lahham said, "We came today to Saydnaya to share with parents this Eid", noting that upon her return she found Sednaya and Syria beautiful thanks to the sacrifices of the heroes of our Syrian Arab Army.
Samia al-Helou and Andrei Khazaqa, who are coming from Lebanon with a number of their friends to attend the Eid celebration in Sednaya, pointed out that the shine has returned to embrace Syria again, pointing out that they did not stop visiting Sidnaya in previous years despite the terrorist war in Syria, but they found this year a special celebration.
A number of Saydnaya residents expressed their joy and happiness with the Eid atmosphere this year and their gratitude to the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army who dominate the finest epics of the championship and victory, according to Maha Katrina and Anisa Mansour, who pointed out that this year was a special flavor for attracting many expatriates and visitors to Saydnaya. From the fulfillment of HE and Zeina Allan that the holiday returned better and more beautiful than before in addition to the return of tourist activity in Sidnaya.
