At least 40 people were killed and 52 injured in two terrorist attacks in Afghanistan today.
"At least 16 people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a suicide attack near an office of the Afghan Defense Ministry in Kabul," the interior ministry said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, 24 people were killed and 32 wounded in an explosion targeting an election rally of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Parawan province in central Afghanistan.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the terrorist blasts as Afghan authorities continue rescue and relief operations at the scene of the attacks.
