A member of the Iraqi Security and Defense Committee Amer Al-Fayez said that Iraq has freedom and independence and will not be subject to any US pressure, especially with regard to the issue of arming the army and going to buy air defense systems.
Fayez revealed in a statement to SANA correspondent in Baghdad today that Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi put the file of arming the security forces on his agenda during his current visit to China, pointing out that the ongoing economic war between Washington and Beijing will not deviate Baghdad from its orientation to diversify its sources of weapons.
Fayez said US pressure would not affect Iraq in its approach to China for arms deals despite the tension between Asian countries, Russia and China on the one hand and America on the other.
