[New York 22nd Reuters]-Shinjiro Koizumi, Minister of Environment, visited New York on the 22nd to show the idea that the Japanese government will work to realize a decarbonized society and play a greater role in climate change countermeasures.
I spoke at a press conference before the "UN Climate Action Summit" to be held on the 23rd.
Mr. Koizumi stated that Japan had not demonstrated strong leadership since the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, and said he would like to do more. No specific measures were mentioned.
