2019-10-02T08:23:16.112Z

The implementation of the climate program is stalling. The Cabinet will expose planned consultations in the short term, according to government circles. Especially the CSU sees still need for discussion.

The CSU has the consultation of the cabinet with the climate protection program for SPIEGEL information temporarily stopped. The led by the CSU Ministry of Interior and also the CSU-led Department of Transportation rejected the scheduled for today's Wednesday in the cabinet referral to the program accordingly short term.

Previously, the news agency dpa had reported about it. The rejection was loud dpa apparently after consultation with CSU boss Markus Söder.

From the CSU it was said that they had simply too little time to read the 200-page document, since it was only received on Wednesday morning at 6 clock in the ministries.

The Climate Protection Package has already been approved in its cornerstones by the Climate Cabinet, a committee of the Federal Government, and also by the entire Cabinet. On Wednesday, the government should now finalize the elaborated, detailed climate protection program 2030. For the details, there are obviously open questions.

The Federal Government could now come under time pressure: If the program is not approved by the Ministerial Round in the next ten days, the project could probably not be decided by Parliament this year. But that was the goal of the government.

A large part of the funding goes into the budget of Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer (CSU), whose ministry deals with electromobility and railways, which are important topics in the climate package, and the Ministry of the Interior, Horst Seehofer (CSU), with the energetic refurbishment of buildings.

The Ministry of the Interior had already filed a so-called ministerial reservation to the leading and led by the SPD Ministry of the Environment on the dpa information from coalition circles already in the course of Tuesday. The Seehofer ministry questioned whether a separate climate protection program was still necessary in view of the resolutions in the Climate Cabinet.
