Moscow is sending a protest note to Washington after US diplomats attempted to travel to Russia's far northern city of Severodvinsk without formally notifying authorities, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov said.
"Today we will send a protest note about the incident involving three US diplomats who were disembarked from the train from Ninoxa to Severodvinsk," Ivanov was quoted as saying by Sputnik. "They have been approved to go to Arkhangelsk, but they somehow went to Severodvinsk." Take some administrative protocols and I think there will be other measures. ”
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister pointed out that "these people are embassy employees, specifically in the military attaché and enjoy immunities."
The media reported earlier that three US diplomats were taken off the train from Ninoxa to Severodvinsk because the territory is subject to a special entry system, which is considered an administrative violation by them.
