The deputy head of the parliamentary bloc of the German Left Party, Sevim Dagdalin, confirmed today that the Turkish aggression on Syrian territory is a violation of international law, calling for imposing direct punitive measures on the head of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a result of this aggression.
"There must be a comprehensive arms embargo, a halt to financial aid and export guarantees for Turkey, as well as individual punitive measures against Erdogan and the confiscation of his accounts in the European Union," Dagdelin said.
For his part, criticized the former German Foreign Minister Zigmar Gabriel the weakness of the European Union and its very timid behavior towards Turkish aggression.
The German politician from the Christian Social Union Manfred Weber called on the European Union to use the weapon of economic sanctions against the Erdogan regime. "Since the EU is Turkey's main trading partner, economic sanctions are an appropriate way to put Erdogan under pressure," he said.
Weber also called for a final conclusion of Turkey's EU accession negotiations.
