Obesity in US animals is increasing

According to a report issued by the Pet Products Association (APPA), 56 million cats and 50 million dogs are overweight. For scientists, obesity in pets is closely related to the habits of their owners, including poor diet and sedentary lifestyle. The president of APPA said that veterinarians should begin to recognize obesity in animals as a disease, in view of the list of consequences it can bring to pets.
