The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday that it would take firm countermeasures if the United States continued its intervention in Hong Kong affairs.
"The law signed by US President Donald Trump today supporting rioters in Hong Kong is a serious interference in China's internal affairs and a violation of international law and basic norms of international relations," the ministry said in a statement.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday summoned a senior US diplomat and threatened the United States with retaliatory measures after the US Senate adopted a text supporting the protests in Hong Kong.
