Photo: Reuters, Edit: Amit SimchaAt least four people have died due to the damage of the powerful "Gloria" storm that strikes eastern Spain. The Valencia region and the Balearic Islands have suffered the most damage, experiencing heavy floods and high winds wreaking havoc. More than 30 provinces in the country were on high alert, and later the storm moved to southern France.
Forecasters in Spain reported that the winds reached 115 mph yesterday, and huge waves were recorded on the Mediterranean coast.
According to one of the French forecasters, quoted by local media, he said the storm was the strongest in the area since 1982. Dozens of police and firefighters deployed in the Pyrenees-Oriental province, and the A9 motorway on the French border with Spain was closed as a precaution. Both countries met from heavy floods last October.
