Since last week, two streets in Olching have been peppered with white and red posters. Residents, annoyed by traffic, then demand the construction of the southwest bypass.

Olching - The simple posters stand out because of their large number from the election campaign sign forest. Almost every fence in Fürstenfeldbrucker and Roggensteiner Straße has been saying “Build a bypass !!!” in red letters since the end of last week. There was a great guesswork on the internet and bypassing opponents about who could be behind it.

Maria Hartl (CSU) quickly becomes suspicious. Olching's Vice Mayor has been a supporter of the bypass for decades and is also a resident of Fürstenfeldbrucker Straße. But Hartl dismisses: "I was only advising - for example, when it came to the question of what should be on the signs." Hartl emphasized that the initiative was initiated by the residents.

Greens' poster stirs the mind

One of them is Klaus Ruttloff. The 76-year-old lives on Roggensteiner Straße and has been a member of the "Interest group around the Olching bypass" for years. He was particularly upset by a recent Greens poster advertising an information evening with opponents Martin Runge (Greens) and Gert Schlenker (Citizens' Initiative Local Development Olching, BIOO). The poster read: "Yes, for the protection of nature and residents. No to the SWU. "

This meant the residents of the Olchingen south-west affected by the bypass and not those of the two streets, as BIOO spokesman Gert Schlenker explains. For Ruttloff a cheek: "I treat them to their noise-free residential area, but we feel like third-class people here." That is why he took the 150 euros for printing the posters and went from house to house with other supporters , "We asked every resident if we could hang up the signs."

According to the report, the bypass does not bring any relief

Anti-bypass Schlenker considers the posters unsuitable: "The signs say nothing." The protest of the street residents is justified, however, Schlenker continues. However, the bypass would not bring any real relief. That shows the official report. The bypass only attracts more traffic. And trucks that have to go to Groebenzell would drive back to Olching via the southern Roggensteiner Straße anyway. "The residents then have an additional burden," says Schlenker.

Greens City Councilor Heide Kuckelkorn has already tried to talk to the affected citizens about alternatives to the bypass, as she says. However, the fronts are hardened. "That's a shame because we all want the same thing - less traffic." That will decrease in the coming decades anyway, says Kuckelkorn. Such an outdated road construction project would be a wrong sign. "The money for the bypass could be better spent on more meaningful projects such as the renovation of the two streets," says Kuckelkorn.

Residents would be thankful for every car less on the doorstep

However, Klaus Ruttloff stuck to his opinion: "I would be less grateful for every car at my front door." He wants to leave the signs hanging at least until the local elections in March. No problem for the city of Olching, says Christian Richter, Head of the Office for the Order. Since the posters do not hang on public land or interfere with traffic, there is no need for action by the city.

The south-west bypass has been an election campaign topic in Olching for decades. The supporters hope for a noticeable reduction in traffic on the doorstep. The opponents doubt the benefits of the project and argue with environmental and flood protection.
